Circumcision Links

Keep up with my pure speculation!
This page is dedicated to my thoughts on circumcision.
Most of what you find here is not commentary on facts or studies, it is my "what if, could this be, pursue research on" page.

  RIC and SIDS
We know that the US has the 6th highest rate of SIDS out of 36 countries. Email me for documentation and sources.

We know that the US has the highest infant circumcision rates of the developed nations.

We know in the US a boy is more likely to die of SIDS than a girl.
Kidshealth.org: More boys than girls fall victim to SIDS.
infoplease. com: More boys are SIDS victims than girls, but boys in general have a higher infant mortality rate than girls.
sutterhealth.org: More boys than girls die of SIDS.

SIDS rates are highest among African Americans and American Indians, and lowest among Asians and Hispanics.

In the US African Americans have the highest circumcision rates (I'm not sure about American Indians, I am looking for stats), and lowest among Asians and Hispanics.
You can download a pdf file from the CDC's website to get these statistics yourself.

Circumcision is so painful and traumatic that some infants go into a coma like sleep because the pain is so overwhelming the infants body can't cope and shuts down. Some infants experience an apparant life threatening experience (ALTE).
Nearly 20% of those circumcised without anesthesia will have apnea/choking episodes[49] consistent with an apparent life-threatening event (ALTE).

When an infant experiences ALTE his increases their risk of SIDS.
An apparent life-threatening event is a risk factor for sudden death (including SIDS).

More and more today medical communities are taking BIRTH trauma into account to explain childhood illness and SIDS, but for some reason we are turning a blind eye to circumcision trauma? A completely unnatural trauma that mother nature does nothing to compensate for unlike the birth process. Why are we ignoring this?

I'll add more as I find more. Please email me if you have any thoughts or information regarding circumcision and SIDS.
